First Friday, green parties, and rummage sales

Working backward, Tomorrow (Saturday Sept. 9), from 12-4, Mignonne is having a storewide sale and green potluck. Local restaurants including Sweet Adeline and Tamarindo will be serving tasty nibbles and everything in the place is 25% off.

Mignonne is at 1000 Jefferson St.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite summer weekend activities was taking my allowance quarters and riding around my neighborhood in search of garage sales. Multi-family sales were the best, followed by estate sales. In my Oakland neighborhood, the First Christian Church has semi-annual rummage sales with all kinds of useful and fun stuff available. Pop by Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9-3, for this weekend’s sale. 111 Fairmount Ave. Incidentally, the church also rents space to nonprofit organizations, if you know someone who’s looking…

That Time of the Month: First Friday and on Through the Weekend

June’s First Friday is the beginning of a weekend of open studios for Pro Arts members. In their honor, uptown’s Industrielle gallery opening features five Oakland artists. In Old Oakland, Mignonne also has local artists Friday night, and this weekend kicks off new Sunday hours.

Saturday and Sunday there will be studios open all over town. More than 400 artists will participate througout the East Bay. Check out more information here. Friend of OaklandGoods Jemal Diamond will have his work on display in HarriOak. See the flier below for details.
